Motoring in Brisbane: What You Need to Know

As the capital of Queensland, Brisbane is a bustling and vibrant city with plenty to do and see. Owning a car in this vibrant metropolis will open up the roads to endless possibilities! But before you take that plunge, there’s some important information you should know about motoring in Brisbane.

Getting Licensed

To obtain a learner car (C class) licence in Queensland, you must first pass PrepL or the written road rules test.

PrepL can be completed online at your own pace. If you prefer, you can take the written road rules test at a transport and motoring customer service centre.

You can apply for your learner licence once you have passed PrepL or the written road rules test and are at least 16 years old.

Traffic Laws

It’s important to stay up-to-date on traffic laws as they can vary from state-to-state. Make sure that you’re familiar with all relevant speed limits and other road rules so that both yourself and other motorists are safe on the roads. You should also keep in mind that certain restrictions may apply depending on where you are driving – such as speed restrictions on school zones during peak times. These types of restrictions exist for everyone’s safety so keep them in mind when motoring around Brisbane.

Fuel Costs

When it comes to fuel costs, each area is subject to its own prices which are usually updated every day; make sure that you stay informed about current pricing when filling up your tank! Additionally, some service stations offer cheaper gas at certain times – again this depends upon the location so do some research beforehand if possible!

Vehicle Maintenance

It’s essential that your car is kept up-to-date on any required maintenance as otherwise it could pose a risk to both yourself and fellow motorists. The best way to ensure regular servicing is by visiting an approved workshop, either online or through their physical address (if applicable). This will help keep your car running smoothly whilst also ensuring its longevity long into the future!
